"I have no interest in making things difficult for you," he says seriously. "Truly, nothing appeals to me less than making accusations about someone who does not deserve it. It was a grueling and painful enough process trying to remove someone who was guilty of abuse. I have had enough of that circus for a lifetime."
The way the school and the Assembly had protected Ikithon for years hasn't left Caleb with a whole lot of confidence that he would be listened to anyway. But then, Ikithon had been entrenched in this institution; Yussa is an entirely new addition, and not even from the Empire besides. It is a delicate thing, but Yussa is right; this trust does go both ways.
